SUMMARY:“What Can the Sand Tell Us?” (April Worship)
DESCRIPTION:Inspired by the essay\, “What the Sand Remembers\,” by Dr. Vanessa Agard Jones\, we shall explore one of our pathways of knowing: memory held by our second greatest earthly bounty\, sand. Together\, we will talk story as memory across time\, source as sorting\, spirit as wisdom\, and summons as communal invitation. The sand will be with us in the rememory\, collecting all the pieces of grain from our history\, for our bodies\, and for our futures. (If you desire or have sand close by\, please bring your element to service with you.)\n\nPlease note: BLUU worship is Black sacred space.\n\nRegister here.

SUMMARY:Stop Hiding Your Light: March BLUU Worship
DESCRIPTION:If radical self-love is communal care and communal care is radical self-love\, then who benefits when we hide or dim our light; our unique manifestation of the Source and Force of life? Join us this Month in BLUU Worship as we re-shape and reframe our relationship to ourselves and the often problematic metaphor of “light.”

SUMMARY:February BLUU Worship: "And We’ll Understand it Better By and By"
DESCRIPTION:Regarded as one of the founders of gospel music\, Rev. Charles Albert Tindley\, an African American Methodist minister composed the songs\, “The Storm is Passing Over” and “By and By” over 100 years ago\, and they continue to sing to us. How do we find wisdom and understanding from them in these times? How do we keep journeying toward a world of greater acceptance and affirmation? Perhaps Rev. Tindley’s journey can inspire us all. \nPlease Note: BLUU Worship is Black Sacred space\, created specifically for and by Black people. Other folks are encouraged to support BLUU by sharing information about worship with Black folks who would benefit from our spiritual community.

SUMMARY:Love Is the Work: Womanist Wisdom for Truth\, Care\, and Collective Becoming
DESCRIPTION:We gather to center womanism’s most radical teaching; love is not a feeling\, it is a practice. Rooted in Black women’s wisdom\, this service explores love as truth-telling\, boundary-setting\, accountability\, and care. Womanist love refuses self-erasure and demands wholeness\, dignity\, and mutual responsibility. Through reflection\, ritual\, and shared grounding\, we consider how love shows up in our relationships with ourselves\, our people\, and our communities—and how choosing love\, again and again\, becomes spiritual work and a pathway toward collective liberation. We leave reminded that love is not soft because it is weak; love is powerful because it is intentional.

SUMMARY:BLUU December Worship
DESCRIPTION:T’is the season of holding and doing all the things. And yet\, we are called into stillness and reflection as the sun’s path shifts and winter sets in. May we hold this changing time with gratitude that we can be still together and for the opportunity to hold together what’s shifting in our own hearts and minds and in community. Join us Sunday\, December 14 for Rev. Mykal Slack’s final worship service as BLUU’s community minister.

SUMMARY:November Worship
DESCRIPTION:Be Free Anyway. The energy permeating from our rituals and our practices create and enliven pathways in the body and of the heart. How do we tend to those pathways in an upside down world? Join Rev. Mykal Sunday\, November 16 for a service of celebration and gratitude for the radical imagining of Buddhism. \n

SUMMARY:September Worship
DESCRIPTION:Keep Sailing: A BLUU Homecoming \nSaying yes to a calling brings both gifts and challenges. The day we all said yes to this calling…this gift…this work that is BLUU\, something shifted in the universe. A whole new set of cultural\, theological\, missional\, and ecclesial neurons were being built in the nervous system of Unitarian Univeralism. And while we may not always know what’s on the horizon\, staying the course is what holds us together and moves us through. Join us in this new season for BLUU’s annual homecoming service! \n  \nRSVP at bit.ly/BLUU-worship

Mykal Slack\, Johann Montozzi-Wood\, our music minister for this service\, and other BLUU community members as we share this sacred space of joy\, healing\, and love. This worship service is happening in-person at GA in the BLUU Healing Space (Room #325). The service will also be streamed live. \nBlack Sacred Space: \nThis event is by and for Black people\, and we hope that Black UUs and Black UU-adjacent folks attending GA will join us!
