BLUU Introduces Small Groups

Since 2018, BLUU staff have imagined hosting intimate gatherings to offer additional support to the BLUU community. At the end of March, the BLUU Small Group Ministries launched with five different categories for people to join. Folks signed up to join groups for parents and caregivers, for spiritual leaders, queer and trans folks, trans and non-binary folks, and for people over the age of 60.

“We’ve wanted to offer this since 2018, but one thing or another kept us from moving forward. I’m grateful to have worked closely with Marchaé on this and it’s been beautiful to see it all take form,” BLUU’s Community Minister for Worship & Spiritual Care Rev. Mykal Slack shared.

The Small Group Ministries offer intimate and safe spaces for deeper engagement, collaboration, and open and interactive discussions. The program also offers the community an opportunity to “find your people,” and for the next few weeks participants will meet online with their respective groups. Marchaé Grair, BLUU’s Communications Director and Interim Program Coordinator, launched small groups with Rev. Mykal.

“Launching small groups this year feels right on time. People need connection and spaces where they can process what is happening in their lives, in their spiritual communities, and in the wider world.  I’m grateful for the small group facilitators whose yeses meant offering more groups to the BLUU community. I appreciate every person who signed up for a small group and committed to deepening within the BLUU community,” Marchaé said.
