Financial
Transparency
Group

The Financial Transparency Group (FTG) helps increase the transparency of BLUU’s organizational finances by ensuring community accountability and assisting staff in creating and implementing budget plans.

The inaugural FTG served from 2018-2020, and BLUU is actively recruiting new members while an interim FTG, comprised of Advisory Team members, is serving in the FTG’s role. Contact us at [email protected] for more information.

  • Overview

The Financial Transparency Group (FTG) helps increase the transparency of BLUU’s organizational finances by ensuring community accountability and assisting staff in creating and implementing budget plans.

The group also  help staff create their yearly operational budgets.

  • Goals

    • The goals of this group are:

      1. To support transparency about financial expenditures and plans.

      2. To help build trust within the BLUU community and the wider UU community.

      3. To evaluate how the BLUU budget expenditures are matching up with the working goals of BLUU.

Financial decision-making responsibility regarding BLUU’s finances will remain with the OCB.

The Financial Transparency Group does not have a board-like relationship to BLUU in ways that involve oversight of BLUU’s structure or control of finances. Although the FTG’s feedback supports decision-making related to budgeting, The FTG is not a voting body. The FTG gives thoughts, feedback and insights to the staff, and the staff relays that feedback to the Organizing Collective Board.

The FTG provides thoughts, feedback, and insights about BLUU’s finances to the Executive Director, who relays them to the OCB.

It is the collective responsibility of the BLUU OCB, staff, and the Financial Transparency Group to report regularly about BLUU finances on a regular basis.

  • Structure

    • Serve 2-3 years.
    • Meet with the BLUU Treasurer to review prepared financial statements.

    • Support the BLUU OCB and staff in understanding BLUU’s financial procedures.
  • Expectations

    • Meet 1-2 hours via Zoom per month.
    • Review reading material before each meeting.
    • Amplify BLUU to your networks through social media and other communication channels.
