Regarded as one of the founders of gospel music, Rev. Charles Albert Tindley, an African American Methodist minister composed the songs, “The Storm is Passing Over” and “By and By” over 100 years ago, and they continue to sing to us. How do we find wisdom and understanding from them in these times? How do we keep journeying toward a world of greater acceptance and affirmation? Perhaps Rev. Tindley’s journey can inspire us all.
Join BLUU for a time of casual connection, community, and conversation. These monthly meetups are a time for the BLUU community to get to know each other outside of worship. This event is open to BLUU members and other Black folks who are seeking community.

Meet Us by the Fire returns with our first open mic night of the year, “Bars”! Pick a verse from your favorite rap song, or any song you want, and rewrite one verse. Then, meet us by the fire to share.

Bring your own craft, a journal and pen, or any other creative tools for this time of creative connection. There will be a few prompts, silent time, and time for community sharing.
